Frequently asked questions.

Most of what people ask the bakery, answered. Pick a topic below to jump straight to it, or drop us a line at info@philpspasties.co.uk.

Orders & delivery

How and when we ship, what to do if something is late, and the small print on dispatch days.

We ship next-day APC for orders placed before 10am Monday to Thursday. Orders placed over the weekend dispatch on Monday for Tuesday delivery.

Yes — free UK mainland delivery on orders over £75. Cream teas and saffron buns ship free with no minimum spend. Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands may take an extra 24 hours and incur a small surcharge.

Yes. At checkout you can pick from the next available Monday or Wednesday dispatch dates, at least seven days from today. We don't ship on weekends or bank holidays.

We currently deliver to mainland UK only. We are working on options for Northern Ireland and Europe and will share updates in our newsletter when those open up.

Email info@philpspasties.co.uk with your order number and we'll chase the courier within the hour. For anything that arrives damaged or not as described, send a photo within 48 hours and we'll replace or refund right away.

Storage & reheating

Get the pastry as crisp as the bakery — straight from the chiller, the freezer, or the morning after.

Our pasties are best enjoyed within three days of arrival. Keep them refrigerated and they will stay at their best until the use-by date on the label.

Yes. Freeze on the day of delivery in their original packaging, or wrap well to keep the pastry at its best. They keep for up to three months in the freezer. Do not refreeze once thawed.

For the crispest pastry, reheat from chilled in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 20 minutes, or until piping hot all the way through. From frozen, allow 35-40 minutes at 200°C.

You can — three minutes on full power, turning halfway — but you'll lose the snap on the pastry. We always recommend the oven if you have time.

Keep scones at room temperature in the original packaging and enjoy within four days. Refrigerate the clotted cream and preserve once opened. Spare scones freeze well — wrap and freeze on the day of delivery.

Allergens & ingredients

We bake from scratch in a small Cornish bakery — here's what's in the pastry and what to watch for.

We make a Flakey Vegan pasty using a plant-based filling and dairy-free pastry. It's prepared on the same surfaces as our meat and dairy ranges, so we can't guarantee it's free from cross-contact.

Not at the moment. Our bakery handles wheat flour throughout, so we cannot offer a gluten-free pasty that meets the standard a true coeliac diet requires. We will share updates if that changes.

Each product page has a detailed allergen accordion, and the box label carries the full Natasha's Law declaration with the fourteen major allergens highlighted in bold.

Wherever possible, yes. The beef is West Country, the dairy is Cornish, and the saffron in our buns is real Spanish saffron — never colouring. Full ingredient lists are on every product page.

Gifting a Philps box

Sending pasties to someone else? Here's how to make sure it lands the way you want.

Yes. Add a personal message at checkout and we'll include it on a handwritten-style card inside the box. Prices and invoices are never included in gift orders.

Of course. Enter the recipient's address as the delivery address at checkout — the billing address can be your own. We'll send the dispatch confirmation to your email so you can pass on tracking if you'd like to.

Yes — we send branded boxes to teams, clients, and conferences across the UK. For orders of 25+ boxes drop us a line at info@philpspasties.co.uk and we'll sort a quote within one working day.

Most of our hampers mix pasties with cream-tea components, and we're happy to tailor a bespoke selection on orders over £100. Email the team and tell us who it's for.

Wholesale & press

Stocking Philps in your café, deli, or feature? Here's where to start.

Yes. We supply chilled and frozen pasties to a small list of trade customers across the South West. Email wholesale@philpspasties.co.uk with your business details and we'll send across our trade pricing and minimum-order guide.

Get in touch through the Contact page — choose 'Press / partnerships' from the reason chips. We can usually turn around hi-res imagery, founder quotes, or product samples within 48 hours.

The shop counter at 2 The Square, St Just is open Monday to Saturday, 8am-5.30pm. We don't run formal bakery tours but you're very welcome to pop in and have a chat — we usually have a tray of fresh pasties on the go.

Account & returns

Updating details, changing an order, and how returns work for fresh food.

If your order hasn't been baked yet we can usually amend or cancel it. Email or call us as soon as you can — once the pasties are in the oven, we can't pull them back out.

Because every pasty is made fresh to order, we can't accept returns on food items. If anything arrives damaged or not as described, email info@philpspasties.co.uk within 48 hours of delivery with a photo and we'll replace or refund right away. Your statutory rights are not affected.

No — you can check out as a guest. Creating an account makes reordering quicker and lets you save addresses, but it's never required.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link in the footer. Click it once and you're out of the list within 24 hours. Order confirmations and dispatch emails always come through, since they're transactional.
